Good timber does not grow with ease. The stronger the wind, the stronger the trees.- Thomas C. Monson

Although most of us are teaching our participants and clients significant ways to buck systems, forego the status quo, embrace the unconventional, and to go extreme by choosing adversity as an advantage, when life actually throws us a curve ball, we tend to want to hide as training professionals. Often our ego is so bruised or we experience so much confusion, that hiding under the covers seems so much more comfortable than heading back out into the ever-chaotic world of busyness, traffic, competition and work.

Before you know it, we’re beating ourselves up, getting down on ourselves, and becoming our worst enemy. Unfortunately, once we enter this cycle of “self-bullying”, it’s very difficult to break these painful patterns that prevent us from heading in the direction we truly desire to go. Too often, we don’t realize that the phrases we silently say to ourselves may be actually hurting us to the point of self-sabotage. In today’s blog post, we’re outlining some common phrases that may seem benign but that could actually keep you from realizing your actual potential. As Ice Cube so poignantly put it: Check Yo’self Before You Wreck Yourself. 😉
